【Info.】UAAT Lecture Series: 2025.07.31-Studying the Freeze Response: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Acute Stress Through Scenarios, Physiology, and Brain Imaging

  • Post author:

What happens in the body and brain when someone freezes under pressure?

This lecture presents an interdisciplinary research project exploring the freeze response as a specific reaction to acute stress. Our methodology combines scenario-based simulations with psychological questionnaires, expert behavioral evaluation, functional MRI, and selected physiological indicators. By creating high-stakes yet safe experimental environments, we aim to understand how individuals experience stress, how their coping strategies influence reactions, and how these patterns are reflected in both neural activity and physiological responses.

The lecture will provide a transparent walkthrough of our design choices, data collection process, and the challenges of capturing complex human reactions in a controlled research setting.
