Wei Chun Heng Grabbed Gold at Archery World Cup in Men’s Recurve Team

In the 2019 Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage II, Wei Chun Heng, a student of the Department of Athletic Performance worked with his teammate at Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games, beat Turkey, 5-1. The men’s recurve team won the gold medal and the women’s recurve team brought back bronze medal.

In order to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Chinese Taipei team will participate in the World Archery Championships in Netherlands in early June. The games at Shanghai and Turkey station serve as warm-ups and the one in Shanghai is also our first international match of the Chinese team this season. The Chinese Taipei men’s recurve team defeated the Koreans in the semi-final. In the final, they met with the Turkey and won beautifully by 5-1. The women’s archery team, composed of Lei Chien Ying, Tan Ya Ting and Peng Chia Mao, defeated the Iran in the end.
 
There are 4 stages in the World Cup in a year. The ones in Medellin, Colombia, Shanghai in China were finished and the ones in Antalya, Turkey and Berlin in Germany will start soon. It is calculated using a points system and the points earned per stage is highly valued. The men and women Chinese Taipei team currently ranked second in the world
