Yang Yi Chen, an alumna of the Department of Athletic Performance, joins Filottrano LARDINI, which belongs to Italian Women’s Volleyball League Serie A1. She is the first female athlete from Taiwan that plays at the national league in Italy. LARDINI has 47 years of history. The men who made Yang’s women’s national volleyball team is Federica Rampazzo, a former coach for Lardini Filottrano. He is also the key figure that assisted Pei-Hung Huang the setter to join Latina last year.

When in college, Yang has participated in University Volleyball and won for 7 consecutive years. She used to play at CMFC Enterprise Volleyball LeagueLeague Enterprise Volleyball League and Taipei World Universiade. She said that Federica asked her about playing abroad before. She was concerned about her unfinished studies so she stayed at Taiwan. Now she’s available for it so she asked Federica about it.

Frederica, now lives in Taiwan, asked several volleyball clubs, including those in Thailand and Indonesia and also Lardini, the one he used to coach. He learned that the club is willing to hire a foreign setter so they continued to work on more detail. Yang said that it took her a while to finally get the chance. She even felt lost because it’s possible that after all the wait, she couldn’t get the job she wanted. It was a blessing for her to play in Italy.

Lardini is actively seeking new players. Three former players at National Volleyball team, Anthi Vasilantonaki, 196 cm tall spiker from Greece and Koyomi Tominaga, current setter of the national volleyball team of Japan were recruited. They are expected to play after the world championship.
