Chen Chiao Ying, a graduate student in NTNU majoring in Physic Education who joined the CMAS Finswimming World Cup in April 24th to 25th in Olsztyn, Poland, brings back one Silver and one Gold. She achieved 17.47 in the apnea of 50 meters. Chen will be at Wroc\u0142aw for her next game from July 20th to 30th for the World Game.<\/div>\r\n
Finswimming is an underwater sport consisting of four techniques involving swimming with the use of fins either on the water’s surface using a snorkel with either monofins or bifins or underwater with monofin either by holding one’s breath or using open circuit scuba diving equipment. Events exist over distances similar to swimming competitions for both swimming pool and open water venues. Competition at world and continental level is organised by the Conf\u00e9d\u00e9ration Mondiale des Activit\u00e9s Subaquatiques (CMAS).<\/div>\r\n
Chen have received a Gold in the Bifin 50 meters of Asia Finswimming Championship in 2014 and was ranked 7th in the Bifin 50 meters of CMAS Finswimming World Cup. In 2016 CMAS Finswimming World Championship, she received a Bronze in the Bifin 50 meters. She is not only the representative for the 2017 World Game but also a record holder of the Bifin 50 and 100 meters in Taiwan.<\/div>\r\n

Chen posted on Facebook, saying that she was glad that this time she attended the competition in the name of NTNU, and the award winning experience was able to glorify the school as well as Taiwan. She is grateful to all the teachers and instructors at NTNU, especially to Professor Andes Cheng, Prof. Chi Li Kang, Administrative Assistant Lin and Secretary Chang from Chinese Taipei Underwater Federation and Coach Liao.<\/div>\r\n
She said that she has make remarkable progress this time. She cut her time in practicing monofins but used a different skill. She achieved better results. Now there\u2019s still room for improvement, especially in bifins.
