Background

  The college of Sports and Recreation was officially founded in August 2001, to meet the needs of changing times, and has become the sixth college established by the National Taiwan Normal University . The college of Sport and Recreation is consisted of Department of Physical Education, Department of Athlete Performance, and the Graduate Institute of Resection Manage ant. The Physical Education Department has been established for more than 50 years, and was the first Physical Education Department Preparing physical education teachers for high schools in Taiwan . The Physical Education Master and doctorate programs in the Physical Education Department also have a long excellent record of educating quality sports scientists and physical education teachers throughout the country. Under the leadership and hard work of both first dean, Dr. Iau-hoei Chien and current dean, Dr. Ching-long Fang, as well as dedication of the entire faculty, the college Sports and Recreation has grown to be the thriving institution that it is today.

  With its long tradition of excellence, the college of Sports and Recreation is not only located in the center of Taipei city with convenient transportation systems, but also has well equipped sports stadium and facilities providing a combination of both quality university faculty and educational resources. This high level of standard has helped the college of Sports and Recreation to shine in the areas of school physical education, and athletic competitions. This is one of the reasons why the college of Sports and Recreation has been the leading choice for prospective students of physical education and recreation. Despite the exemplary standards and performance demonstrated by the college, it is nonetheless faced with the fast paced growth of information and international competitiveness. Thus, the college of Sports and Recreation must press on pursuing for excellence wards the future, forever demanding progress and further achievements.

  The primary objective of the college is to become number one in Taiwan , as well as notable on the international academic community. It is hoped that, under the combined efforts and cooperation of the faculty and students, the college can make good use of its internal and external resources and technology, to focus both on the theoretical, and practical aspects. Moreover, it is further hoped that this institute can be able to continue to produce outstanding teachers and professionals in the fields of sports science, physical education, sports management, and sports training, who are well versed in both technology and humanities. Through this, we shall strive to improve the quality of sports recreation, sports management, and industrial efficiency, as well as raise the bar of standards in athletic competition.

 

 

Vision

•  Improving integrated technology research, promoting cooperative international and intern collegiate, research projects, managing research integrating physical education and information technology, and promoting physical education research.

•  Focusing on both theory and practicality, and working collaboratively with government and businesses to be beneficial to physical education instruction, sports health care, athletic competitions, and the sports industry.

•  Promoting international activities related to sports and physical education, improving upon international exchanges for teachers and students in the areas of physical education and athletic competitions. Encouraging participation in international academic seminars or athletic competitions, and searching for a leading role among international physical education and sports organizations throughout the world.

•  Training and producing outstanding athletes and coaches. It is hoped that support from sports science can be helpful to produce even more elite athletes. Olympic and international class athletes.
